The Belgian leader in independent and adventurous travel is looking for a Head of Product Management, reporting directly to the General Manager and leading a team of 6 Product Managers.
Main Purpose of the Role:
Lead the procurement, development, and management of travel products for the Belgian market, ensuring they align with the company’s strategic goals and meet the needs of our niche target audience.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Budgeting:
- Develop and implement the annual Product Sales Budget and Strategic Plan by the agreed deadline.
- Define product objectives, including new product introductions and market trends.
- Prioritize product sales, optimize the sales mix, and achieve budgeted gross-profit margins.
- Identify and maintain key supplier relationships, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic goals.
- Regularly review and update plans to respond to market changes, with a formal review at least quarterly.
Sales & Gross Profit Achievement:
- Meet or exceed budgeted sales and gross profit targets on a quarterly basis.
- Take proactive measures to address any shortfalls in product performance or profitability.
Product Management & Distribution:
- Source and develop new travel products as outlined in the annual strategy, working closely with the Commercial Director or Managing Director.
- Drive product differentiation and negotiate favorable terms with suppliers to enhance profitability.
- Ensure efficient distribution of products across all sales channels.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and motivate the Product team to meet and exceed targets, providing necessary guidance and support.
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of Product team members within budget constraints.
- Conduct annual performance reviews, identify areas for improvement, and support team members’ career development.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Participate in management and branch meetings, ensuring seamless communication across departments.
- Distribute relevant information from supplier meetings to appropriate staff and departments.
- Organize training sessions for the Sales team to enhance product knowledge and sales effectiveness.
- Foster strong relationships with suppliers through regular meetings and collaboration.
Company Representation:
- Represent the company at industry events, supplier meetings, and trade associations.
- Deliver professional presentations and engage in industry networking to strengthen the company’s presence and reputation.
